So you’ve decided to invest in a personal trainer to get fit? That’s great! But how do you decide who is right for you? Having the right personal trainer can determine the success or failure of your fitness goals. Here are 5 tips on how to choose who’s best for you.

  1. Do you relate? Working out is a strenuous task, so having a personal trainer that you can relate to is important. Do they make the workout fun? Can you be honest with them about how the workout feels? Are they receptive to your personal fitness goals?
  1. What is their background? If you’re new to working out, having a trainer who usually works with high level athletes probably isn’t going to keep you motivated to keep going. Inversely, if you’re used to training at a high level, having a trainer who usually works with older people won’t serve you well.
  1. Location: If you have a trainer who’s gym is inconvenient for you to get to, you’ll be more likely to skip workouts. Or, say your trainer comes to your home, would you rather be in a gym regardless of the location?

Use these tips to help you find the perfect trainer for you, and get moving!
