Today is the first day of Black History Month and we celebrate by highlighting black women who looked racism and gender inequality in the face and with bravery, fought through adversity.

Audre Lorde was a writer, poet, feminist and civil rights activist who became well-known for her expressive style of writing that illustrated the many issues black women faced. She frequently explored her identity as well as the identity of black women.

We celebrate Audre Lorde as a powerful voice for black women everywhere.
