Earlier this year, A&E and Lifetime announced the premiere date for Janet, a two-night, four-hour look into the pop star’s vibrant life. “It’s just something that needs to be done,” Jackson says in the extended three-minute trailer.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of her first album, Janet Jackson, the documentary will include home videos, exclusive, archival footage and celebrity interviews with stars including Teyana Taylor, Regina King and Samuel Jackson – to name a few.

“For her to open up – I’m flabbergasted,” said rapper Q-tip. Typically known for her low profile, the Hollywood legend from Gary, Indiana, discusses her childhood, love life, motherhood and entertainment in the upcoming film.

According to Lifetime, Janet is “an intimate, honest and unfiltered look at her untold story.” The story will air on A&E and Lifetime on Jan. 28 at 8 PM.
