There are very few people who won’t agree that a whiter smile makes a world of difference. However, as the years progress, aging and exposure can leave your smile discolored.

If you’re ready to whiten your teeth, but aren’t willing to spend hundreds of dollars on teeth whitening kits or visits to the dentist, here are 3 at-home remedies that can help you keep that smile bright and beautiful.

Baking Soda and Lemon

Baking soda and lemon can be used separately to whiten teeth, but together they work wonders to brighten your smile.

In a small container, combine baking soda and the juice extracted from a fresh lemon. Once the mixture is complete, brush it on your teeth and leave it there for no longer than 1 minute. Be sure not to exceed a minute as the acid can erode teeth.

Try this remedy once a week and your teeth will thank you later.

Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is no new phenomenon. It has been used for centuries by Eastern cultures to maximize oral health. When it comes to keeping those teeth pearly white, this at-home remedy is easy, inexpensive and healthy.

Use about one tablespoon of organic oil of your choosing (coconut oil, hempseed oil etc) and swish it around your mouth for 15-20 minutes. Make sure that you’re moving the oil around your mouth evenly. When done, rinse mouth thoroughly with water and watch those teeth shine.

Hydrogen Peroxide

One of my personal favorite at-home tricks to keep my mouth and my teeth clean is using Hydrogen Peroxide. In additional to whitening teeth, it also prevents bacteria growth in the mouth, treats bad breath and infections.

Similarly when oil pulling, simply swish some food-grade HP around your mouth for a few seconds and spit it out. Do this once or twice a week to fight discolored aging teeth.
