It was announced today by BET that R&B legend, Anita Baker will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s BET Awards!

The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter is known for her mark in the music industry with an outstanding record over the past four decades.

Baker’s debut solo album, Songstress was released in 1983. Her single, “Angel” ranked at No. 5 on the R&B charts. In 1986, Anita’s album, Rapture peaked at No.11 on the Billboard 200. It produced our favorite hit singles such as “Sweet Love” and “Caught Up In The Rapture of Love.”

This year, individuals such as James Shaw Jr., Naomi Wadler, Mamoudou Gassama, Justin Blackman, Shaun King, and Anthony Bores will also be honored as Humanitarian Heroes.
