When it comes to the GOATs of hip-hop, you can’t have a conversation without mentioning Birdman and Slim. The music moguls and executives serve as the co-founders of Cash Money Records, yielding one of the most star-studded rosters in hip-hop history. Artists include Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Drake, and of course, the queen Nicki Minaj.

On Friday, October 7th, The Living Legends Foundation hosted an exclusive gala to celebrate Birdman and Slim, taking place at Taglyan Complex in the heart of North Hollywood, California. Founded in 1991, the Living Legends Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization, funded solely with corporate contributions and individual donations. With 3 decades behind their belt, their mission has always remained constant: assist those who have served the music industry and who have a confirmable need.

While many former employees of the music industry worked during a time where 401Ks and retirement packages were not available, it seems now more than ever has career stability been at an all-time high. Thankfully, the donations have been extremely helpful in allowing LLF to continue to help those in need.

Honorees include Charlamagne Tha God, Curtis Symonds (CEO of HBCUGO.TV), Geo Bivins, (CEO of Port Perry Entertainment), Johnnie Walker (founder and CEO of the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment, Inc.), Tuma Basa (Director of Black Music and Culture at YouTube), and more.
