This powerful Scandal duo is back in action and sadly, no it isn’t for another episode. Kerry Washington is preparing for a Broadway production and in addition, her friends are in route to help!

Shonda Rhimes, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, Jada Pinkett Smith, Steve Stoute, and Kerry’s husband Nnamdi Asomugha will now produce the Broadway production, American Son, a story that covers the topics of race and law enforcement in America.

American Son will star Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale and is written by Christopher Demos-Brown. It will follow the story of estranged parents who must come together when their teenage son has been detained by police.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Kerry said,

“Christopher Demos-Brown has written a play that dives deep into the big questions of who we are as a nation by exploring the intimate relationships within a family caught at the crossroads of love, loss, identity, and community.”

She added,

“After reading the script I was immediately enthralled by the world of the play and the gripping circumstances that these characters are facing.”

American Son will premiere on November 4th and will run for 16 weeks at the Booth Theatre in New York City.
