Pharrell Williams and Black-ish creator, Kenya Barris are joining forces to bring a new production to Broadway.

The two powerhouses have just announced that they will be bringing a stage musical about Juneteenth (Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger came to Galveston, Texas, to inform that President Abraham Lincoln two years earlier had freed the slaves)

Pharrell will compose the music for the production while Barris will write the script. In addition, Peter Saji will produce the project.

Not much information on the production has been announced but we do know that the musical will center on two African American families, one set in present time and the other during the time of the Civil War.
