Who could believe it… prom and graduation season is here!

This past weekend founder of Make It Gorjess, Jessica DeLeon embarked upon a task that was not easy. The organization spearheaded by DeLeon embarked upon their first ever, Make It Gorjess Prom Dress Drive Giveaway.

DeLeon, has always had the desire to create a prom dress drive giveaway but realized she could not do it alone. She leaned on family, friends and social media to give back. Spreading the word mainly on social media, DeLeon was able to garner over four-hundred and fifty dresses for those who attended the prom dress drive.

The day was dedicated to graduating junior and high school seniors in a low-income area in Brooklyn, NY. The young ladies that attended were able to pick from an array of dresses for both their prom and graduation needs. The young ladies not only left with a dress but were also able to pick the right accessories and shoes to complement their look. With the perfect look accomplished, DeLeon had nail technicians and makeup artists to provide creative ideas for the girls on their special day.

For DeLeon, “this was more than a day of receiving a new dress. This was a day for girls to be empowered, and to realize that a brand new life awaits them after this chapter closes in their lives. I was happy that I was able to do this in my community, in a low-income area and be a blessing to someone else.”

Pushing the needle of empowering girls to feel confident, the Make It Gorjess Prom Dress Drive Giveaway also provided a red carpet runway for the recipients to show off their new dresses. While some young ladies were shy, DeLeon encouraged and walked alongside them to the catchy tune “Walking Trophy.”

An incredible giveback, in an incredible way! Check out picture highlights below, to see all the fun!
