When did you know you wanted a career with in the entertainment industry?

When I was younger, I would see woman modeling and on camera and I knew then, it was something I wanted to do. That’s what inspired me to believe that I could do the same thing and really be great at it. What was interesting was that I went to Church with Ms. Melanie Samuels, which I believe was in the Miss Black America Pageant of ’93 and she told me I should get into modeling and pageants. It was funny because we also shared the same birthday and many people said we favored, but she became my mentor to help me become successful with both modeling and pageants.

How long have you been professionally acting and modeling?

I’ve been modeling now since I was 14, but I’m always tell people that you can’t give up on your dreams. After I had my first daughter I thought, I ccouldn’t model anymore because I had gained and didn’t think fullfigured woman could model.  One day a lady came to me and said I should do full figure modeling and you can make a really big career out of it. So, I started back modeling about 7 years ago and it has been tremendously wonderful. This was something that I wanted to do, however, I still wasn’t happy, I wasn’t comfortable. So, I was thinking, I know I can model, I know I can sing; I’m a Gospel artist as well, but I was thinking, what else? I knew I wanted to be in front of the camera, so I begin acting, and it was maybe acting 7 or 8 years ago I got started, but professionally, it’s been about 2 years now, I’m super excited about that and I have a lot of things that are coming in and coming up.

Can you tell us more about your new series “Lust”?

Yes ma’am! “Lust” will air on the Fox network, September 4, 2016, and I have one of the leading roles as Seven’s mom, I have 4 son’s, which is crazy because I have no sons in real life, but I have 4 sons in the movie. I must admit it’s really a challenging role, but I love it. I’m playing a sexy mom, but I’m actually like a gangster too because I’m killing people, I honestly believe people are definitely going to see a side of me that they have never seen before, but it’s definitely going to be good (laugh). This movie relates back to Chicago, there are 5 families and I’m the head of the Calhoun’s, so yes, everyone please stay tuned, I’m really excited about it. I have to send big shouts out to Tracey McLean for doing her thing in this great TV series and this opportunity.

You are an amazing radio personality on WSHR, can you tell us about it?

I was feeling limited and I tell you when God opens it and when you take one step, he’ll make two. So, one day I just was like, I believe I’m good at this. I felt like I had a great personality and I was able to make people laugh, understand that I’m not a comedian by far, but I was like hey let me try it. I started out as a Co-Host, but was encouraged to start my own talk show, after hearing that I was truly excited and surprised. Now, I’m going on a year of having my own show and about 2.2 Million followers, I must admit that I didn’t expect this at all, also having one of the biggest shows on WSHR.

What inspires you to want to give back?

What really inspired me to give back was just seeing kids these days, I see a lot of kids that go without and to be honest I looked at my own children and many people don’t know that we were homeless a couple of years ago, I knew that I needed to better myself and them and I told myself that I never want to see another kid have to feel like they don’t have. I help out with a lot of different organizations, but I decided that I wanted to begin my own that would be dedicated to kids and teens. Many people don’t know that I also manage my 17-year-old daughter, who’s a performer, and we started performing at a shelter with girls that were pregnant. It was that experience that made me realize, that was the organization that I wanted to deal with, my only issue was I didn’t know what to call it and one day I was thinking the name “Life” was it. How do you rebuild your life after giving life? You’re a teen and you’re trying to figure out how to rebuild your life after you’ve changed your whole life. You can’t easily have that, so I knew this would be the best organization, so I started giving hair products because all ladies love to do hair, but I knew want to make it bigger, so I decided I was going to begin doing an Annual Back To School Jam, so I got “Supa Peach” from “The Rap Game” and a few more other kids that had huge followings as well as doing positive music and positive things in their communities, everybody knows that I’m only going with positive kids, you’ve got to be doing something positive. While I was putting the Back to School Jam together, I didn’t think it was going to turn out to be as successful as it was and I truly thank God for that because the Devil was really trying to get in it.

With everything that you have currently accomplished, what if anything, do you still desire to do?

Wow! I actually desire to play in an action role, since I’m just a Country girl from Atlanta, and a lot of people didn’t know that I’m a from right here in Atlanta, I’m a true Georgia Peach (laugh). My dream is to work with Oprah, a lot of people did see me in Green Leaf, but I really want a major role with her as well as Taylor Perry, as well as Steven Spielberg and Denzel Washington to name a few. However, when I tell you, there are some big moves being made (laugh), I will be in New York on the 24th, meeting with Mr. Roland Emmerich who is the Producer and Director of Independence Day. There are some really big things that are going on and I just want everyone to stay tuned. So, that’s my goal, I want to be able to inspire kids to do great, and definitely stay in school continuing doing everything that they’re positively doing, but I also must say that my biggest dream is to get my face in a major motion pictures and I know Fox is going to get me there (laugh) that is truly one of my biggest goals.
