This had to be one of the most informal interviews I have done, but one of the realist.

Now we all know Dean as a superstar songwriter for some of the hottest people in the industry like Rihanna, Katie Perry, Nicki Minaj and more! But the greatness doesn’t stop just there, she is also a newly actress, she stars in Pitch Perfect 1,2 and 3!

Dean is also on the show Songland which where you find how where the magic behind the music really happens. Songland represents a new chapter for music in television: it is a destination for music’s biggest recording artists to find their next hit song.  The guest recording artists featured on Songland include: Jonas Brothers, John Legend, Meghan Trainor, Macklemore, Charlie Puth, Kelsea Ballerini,, OneRepublic, Aloe Blacc, Old Dominion and Leona Lewis.

Every week, a superstar guest musician comes to Songland to hear unknown songwriters pitch their original material. The guest artist pairs songwriters with one of the three most successful producers in music – Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic and Grammy Award-winning producer of Adele, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift), Ester Dean (Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer of Rihanna, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj) and Shane McAnally (Grammy-winning songwriter and producer of Kacey Musgraves, Kelly Clarkson and Sam Hunt with 40 #1 country records).

Songland takes an inside look at the creative process and provides one winner per episode the opportunity to have their song recorded for a global audience by the chart-topping guest recording artists featured in their show.

When sitting down with Dean, I felt like I was talking to a long lost friend. Dean discusses being on welfare when Polo da Don found her and told her he would change her life. From that moment is exactly what he did to the young star.

With Dean being a singer along being a writer she informed me that she actually likes being a writer more than being an artist. She discussed how the industry treats individuals in the industry differently when they don’t have anything big popping. She talked about how people treated differently until she got her first major song. She prides herself in treating everyone equally which I loved about her.

Dean is a Grammy-nominated writer, has a huge song catalog and an actress, but she is definitely one of the realist in the game. She is one of the rare people in the industry that hasn’t changed because of her status.
