The controversial play “Slave Play” is making it’s way to Broadway!

The play follows the stories of three interracial couples that participate in an unusual form of sexual therapy and involves slavery cosplay in the setting of a Virginia plantation.

There were mixed feelings regarding the play as many people felt that it was racist while others praised it.

According to The New York Times, There was even a petition going around to shut down the production.

The play was written by Jeremy O. Harris.

It will officially hit the stage at Broadway’s Golden Theatre on September 10th.

John Legend, Lady Gaga’s former manager, Eve, and Meghan Trainor are all producers of “Slave Play.”

At this time, it has not been announced who will star in the Broadway production.

“Slave Play” was honored with the Rosa Parks Playwriting Award and the 2018 Paula Vogel Award.
