Watch out! A new Miss Universe is in town! Just last night, Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe! The event held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia was surely an unforgettable night!

Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson was announced as first runner-up while Miss Mexico Sofía Aragón earned second runner-up. Steve Harvey returned to the pageant to host the event while Olivia Culpo and Vanessa Lachey gave the audience and viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the show as correspondents.

Miss South Africa crowned as Miss Universe marked a special moment in history! This marked the third time Miss South Africa was crowned Miss Universe. Tunzi also became the first black woman to earn this title since Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Unvierse back in 2011.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate because all four major pageant winners of the Miss Universe Organization are all black women!

You’re probably wondering, what else? How does she plan to use her title in order to make changes? Well, Tunzi is an activist that fights against gender-based violence. In an Instagram post, she stated, “I’m asking the people of South Africa to be part of the fabric of my Miss Universe National Costume by writing love letters that pledge support for the women of this country.” she added, “It is my hope that these pledges will start, and continue a conversation around gender-based violence. We have to start the narration where right-thinking people act as role models for those who think it’s okay to mistreat women.”

Congratulations Miss Universe! We cannot see the amazing things you will do!
