Music Producer, Mr. Hanky has constructed club-cracking anthems for Nicki Minaj, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, and Young Dolph. His music became radio mainstays with two laidback singles, “California” performed by Colonel Loud featuring Young Dolph, Rico Barrino, and T.I. and “On the Way” featuring DJ Luke Nasty, and most recently the hit single that has become the motto for many late last year and up into the New Year, “Smile-Living My Best Life” performed by Lil Duval and Snoop Dogg!

In a recent interview with me, he shared his experience in the music industry and the highlights of being able to produce a smashing hit single with Lil Duval and Snoop.

What was the experience like producing “Smile-Living My Best Life” performed by Lil Duval and Snoop Dogg?

Honestly, it feels like a dream because it was so effortless.  I looked at files on my computer and realized I actually produced the beat for it Jan. 4, 2016. It was literally right after I Produced “California” by Colonel Loud, Young Dolph, T.I. and Ricco Barrino blew up. I literally shopped that beat around for two years to every reputable artist I came in contact with.  But it was about getting to someone who knew what the vibe was even if it was a comedian. It was the perfect fit, and the results don’t lie.

What other producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?

Main producers, songwriters, and artist that influence me are the ones who have done it all successfully.  Meaning they aren’t stuck on a specific sound or genre and have crossed over several times. People such as Quincy Jones, Prince, Pharrell, Diddy, Dr. Dre,  Will I Am, Timbaland, Jermaine Dupri, and of course Mr. ColliPark. The ones that created movements and sustained careers for decades.

Do you have advice for young people who want to become music producers?

Yeah…do you how you do it.  Don’t listen to the rules on how to make a hit.  There really aren’t any wrong or right ways to produce.  Not saying just sample anyone’s music without handling your business because the law is still the law, but just don’t limit yourself creatively.

What upcoming projects are you excited to be working on next?

“Actually working on a couple of singles of my own and also with artist such as Tory Lanez, Jacquees, TK Kravitz. As well as a slew of dope independent artist that I look forward to making some Billboard hits with.”

What do you enjoy most about your line of work?

The biggest part of it is seeing the reaction and the joy the music brings the people, especially in the clubs.  It’s amazing starting with a blank slate on a computer, developing and putting the record together in a room by yourself and the whole world loves it.  No better feeling in the world. Oh yeah, the money is great also.

The stylish way to living your best life is by doing the things you love and are truly passionate about. Mr. Hanky has done just that by continuing to produce trend-setting music that we all love!
