We just learned that Netflix will retell the story of pop legend, Selena Quintanilla.

The new series on the popular streaming platform is titled, Selena: The Series. Netflix will work with Quintanilla family in order to bring this series to life.

In a statement, Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla said, “Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory. With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives. We are excited to partner with Campanario and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come.”

Selena Quintanilla’s life was taken by her manager, Yolanda Saldívar after she was fired from Selena’s team in 1995. After refusing to turn over financial papers, a confrontation occurred in which Saldívar shot Selena.

In 2017, Selena received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Suzette Quintanilla, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., and Simran A. Singh all serve as executive producers of the new series. Moisés Zamora will write and executive produce.
