Fashion’s biggest week is here and to open up the show, fashion powerhouses such as Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, and the Runway of Dreams Foundation produced a special presentation this morning to dedicate stylish looks created for individuals with physical challenges.

The Fashion Revolution event was held on the eve of the first official day of New York Fashion Week and previewed Spring 2019 looks that were showcased by 30 models with disabilities. These individuals hit the runway wearing clothing designed by Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, and Target.

The idea for the foundation was inspired by Design and RODF founder, Mindy Scheier’s son Oliver who has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy.

In a report by the New York Times, Scheier shared,

“He vocalized to us that he really wanted to wear what everybody else gets to wear.”

She also added,

“That truly opened my eyes to the need of not only my son Oliver but the millions of people, almost 60 million” in the United States and a billion globally with a disability.”

The RODF was created in 2014 and works with the fashion industry in order to include people with disabilities.
