Omar Gooding has been entertaining us for years! With over 30 years in the world of entertainment, we still haven’t gotten enough of the actor and music star. We recently caught up with Gooding to discuss his role as Anthony Stallworth on Bounce Network’s seventh season of Family Time and the release of an exciting hip-hop album titled, The Excuse.

Tell us about your album, The Excuse! What can listeners expect to hear?

My CD is a hip hop album produced by Focus from Aftermath. He and I decided it was time to release a solo album . An introspective journey that I take hip hop fans on. I touch on being a father, and passing down life lessons that I have experienced and also that I learned from My father. Then I get into questions I’m often asked about my career my personal life and my famous family. All leading to the reason for me to put out an album and the reason why it took so long , hence the title of the album, THE EXCUSE. All true hip hop fans are in for a treat, from the production to the lyrical content and word play to the execution.

Can you share with us insight into the new season of Family Time? What can we look forward to seeing in the show’s seventh season?

This new season of Family Time in my opinion  is simply the best yet! Non stop punch lines and banter between your favorite characters. NEW characters that you will INSTANTLY love. And great production. What a joy to be a part of the cast and crew that has been blessed to stay together for 7 seasons!

Are there any upcoming projects you can tell us about?

In between the filming of season seven and season 8 of Family Time, I decided to join the cast of a crime drama called 5th Ward! We filmed in the heart of Houston Texas’s 5th ward and I play lead detective Robert Kennedy. It was a great experience to switch gears from comedy for a bit and remind my fans that I’m not just a one trick pony when it comes to the silver and big screen! You can catch this season on the UMC and this excellent cast is headed by Mya, Carl Anthony Payne, Gary Sturgis and myself.

Where do you hope to see yourself in the years to come?

In the years to come I hope to keep making my fans proud. We have another season of Family time in the can and we are set to go back into production in the first quarter of 2020. I will also be releasing another album to follow up the Excuse. And MOSTLY I am super excited to be expecting another Baby Boy due November 21! God is good.

Be sure to tune into Family Time on Bounce Network on Wednesdays at 9PM!
