One look at the Spring/Summer 19 runway shows and you can tell this season will be an “in your face” era for fashion. Whether you’re overwhelmed by decadent ruffles, or not sure how you feel about neon making a comeback, we’ve got all of the ways to interpret the trends seen on the runways and advice about how to make them work for your style.

Puffed Voluminous Sleeves

There certainly wasn’t a lack for volume on the S/S 19 runways, considering the amount of ruffle dresses, neck and tie details, and especially voluminous sleeves being showcased. To make this trend work for you, try a ¾ length puffy sleeve, or a sleeve that tapers toward the wrist. Also consider a silhouette that accentuates the waist to balance out the volume up top.

Barely There Sheer

We’ve seen an emergence of translucent fabrications and “free the nipple” inspired clothing. While most will be hesitant to wear this trend, consider utilizing your sheer fabrics in other ways. Try layering a sleeveless top with mesh or translucent sleeves, or a blouse with a sheer back. Or go for sheer socks, which are a simple way to elevate last years’ pumps.
