As if it wasn’t hot already, we’re still applying heat on our hair (shrugs). We’ve heard it time and time again, “avoid using heat on your hair.”

I’m here to let you know that if you’re straightening, curling, blow-drying your hair as much as me… you need to protect it with a heat protectant. This may sound like an obvious but hear me out.

When I first began applying heat on my hair in high school, no one ever told me heat protectant was even a thing.

Obviously, my hair became dry, damaged, and often times, I found myself not being able to do much with it because the quality of it was so low. A good heat protectant is great to keep in your corner so that you can minimize the damage and have a shield against the high-temperature tools you put on your hair.

We’ve rounded up four of our favorite heat protectants to make sure that you’re protected this summer!

Rucker Roots Leave-In Heat Protectant, $12.99

I just started using this leave-in heat protectant from Rucker Roots and I’ve been loving every second of it! Not only does it smell heavenly but it detangles my hair while protecting it from all the heat tools I put on it. Rucker Roots stands for natural ingredients and I couldn’t be more obsessed. The fact that it is 100% vegan and its packaging is made from 100% recycled plastics gives me every reason in the world to keep purchasing it.
