Just as God used Adam’s rib to make Eve in the book of Genesis, nearly every story of creation since the beginning of time has acknowledged the importance of men and women in each other’s lives. Like batteries, we charge each other. No matter how negative a picture the powers that be may paint, we actually live in an amazingly positive world that requires a balance of feminine and masculine energy. For while women are the backbones of a society, men are the heads of its most productive households. None of us can realize our full potentials without the other. On my journey, I’ve been blessed to witness my father’s seemingly unstoppable strength and immovable fortitude, my husband’s powerfully patient love and his ability to harness my own strength, and in my son, a spectacular eagerness to learn and an equanimity that’s allowed him to carefully assess situations before acting. Every man I’ve encountered has contributed in some way to me becoming the woman I am. For that I am thankful. So, from dispelling negative myths to airing their thoughts on women and romance, we proudly dedicate this issue to celebrating and exploring the lives of men everywhere.
