It was revealed that there have been changes made that will impact the 2021 Grammy Awards.

We know that there has been changes to the New Artist category, Latin, R&B, and Rap fields, Nominations Review Committees, and more.

In a statement, Chair & Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr. said, “I’m excited to announce our latest changes, as we’re constantly evaluating our Awards process and evolving it to ensure the GRAMMY Awards are inclusive and reflect the current state of the music industry.”

He added, “The Academy accepts proposals for rule changes from members of the music community throughout the year that are carefully reviewed and, if accepted, ultimately ratified at our annual Board meeting, a process that we are proud to have continued in this challenging year.”

Changes include Best Urban Contemporary Album – it has been renamed to Best Progressive R&B Album. In addition, Best Rap/Sung Performance has been changed to Best Melodic Rap Performance. Finally, Latin Pop Album has been renamed Best Latin Pop or Urban Album an Latin Rock. Urban Or Alternative Album has also been changed to Best Latin Rock Or Alternative Album.

The 2021 Grammys is set to air on January 31st, 2021 with nominations revealed before the event.
