The latest multi-camera addition to FOX’s schedule for next season is the Lil Rel Howery starring Rel, from Jerrod Carmichael, Mike Scully and 20th Century Fox TV.

Rel, starring Howrey and co-starring Sinbad as his dad was written/executive produced by Josh Rabinowitz and Kevin Barnett and Howrey. It was directed by Gerry Cohen.

Rel was inspired by Howrey’s life. It centers on Lil Rel, a prideful, self-made success who lives by the code to “always believe in yourself and great things will come,” finds that attitude put to the test when he learns his wife is having an affair with his own barber. He tries to rebuild his life post-divorce as a long-distance single father on the West Side of Chicago on a quest for love, respect, and a new barber.

Jess “Hilarious” Moore and Jordan L. Jones also co-star in the series. Scully serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Carmichael.

Sheen was able to preview the first episode this season that airs this Fall during Essence Festival. Some of Howery’s celebrity friends were in attendance like Loni Love (The Real), Omar Dorsey (Queen Sugar), Sarunas Jackson (Insecure), Marque Richardson (Dear White People) and more!
