Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.

Well, my name is Singleton. I’m originally from an island off the Atlantic Coast of Georgia. My father was in the military and we traveled all over the nation. In the middle of senior year in high school, I moved to two schools! I always had a well-rounded education and had many friends of all nationalities growing up.

My family sings and we are very religious. I grew up in a Pentecostal background so I was always in the church. We had church three to five days a week, it was like the military camp (laughs). Between services, my family sang and I began to notice that I could sing too at an early age. I was a little shy at first. One day I remember, I was listening to a Michael Jackson’s song, “Ben.” I sang that song and that was it for me! It allowed me to grow the courage to sing my first solo in church when I was five years old.

Are you excited about venturing into the music side of entertainment?

I’m very excited about it! I created a business acting as a label and I am super excited to work with top-notch professionals.

What is like working with famed music producer, Teddy Riley?

The experience is really good. Of course, I was a little star struck in the beginning but once you get into the room and see how excited everyone is about your voice and talents, then it becomes second nature. I was really encouraged by his work ethic and how he was excited about what I had to bring to my project. He was amazing. He is a legend and icon and it definitely showed in the whole process of making this album.

Do you enjoy the modeling world?

I won a modeling competition years ago in Miami that brought me to New York. I had to choose between New York or Los Angeles and I ended up choosing New York because it is easier to commute. New York was the place to be. I started off as a body model and ventured into a little fashion and commercial. After doing it for a few years I created a niche for myself.

Who are some of your music idols and how they influence you?

Daryl Coley was a gospel singer who inspired me to want to sing. His gut-retching, soulful voice encouraged me to want to sing. I would also say Stevie Wonder, of course, Marvin Gaye, Boyz II Men, my roots are gospel, jazz. I’m a wide range from all styles.

Is acting in your future? What can we expect to see from you in the future?

It’s been talked about. I wrote a song called, “Forward” for a movie so I am excited about that. But yes, I’ve started acting and I’m excited about that. If it comes up, I would take an opportunity but right now I am focused on getting my music out and having my voice heard.
