Filmmaker, Spike Lee has just been nameddirector of Prince of Cats – a 1980s hip-hop take on Shakespere’s Romeo & Juliet.

This story will tell the story of the two lovers through the eyes of Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin.

The Hollywood Reporter shared that the film will allow views to witness Tybalt and his Capulet brothers navigating through the underworld of Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn. This adaption was written and illustrated by Ronald Wimberly. Check out Lee’s announcement below!

Earlier this year, Lee took home the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlaKkKlansman – which starred John David Washington, Adram Driver, and Laura Harrier.
