Asia Monet Ray started her career at the tender age of six on the first season of Lifetime’s Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition. Later, she joined Abby Lee Miller’s elite squad on season three of Dance Moms. From there, Ray scored her own spin-off docu-series Raising Asia, which gave the viewers a chance to get to know Asia and her family from a more intimate point of view. After conquering the reality tv stage, Ray decided to venture off into exploring her other talents in music and acting. Ray released a debut album titled Asia Monet and a Christmas single “Christmas Time” back in 2014. Now, in 2016, Asia has starred in the indie film Sister Code as well as playing Sydney Simpson in American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson.

What motivates you on a daily basis?

Life, I mean everything, I could see a bird on the side of the road and that will motivate me. But I mean, I’m so glad that I’m alive and I have a family that’s supportive and let’s me do what I love to do. I have so many loyal followers on all my social media and I never want to let them down, they teach me so many things and they encourage me and they are so sweet. Mostly it’s my fans, besides my parents, of course, and my little sister, she’s my number one fan. They support me so much that it’s kind of hard if I let them down. If I sell out Staples Center one day, I don’t care if I have to do 20 million shows, that’s my ultimate goal.

Where do you see yourself 5-10 years from now?

Hopefully the big screen, one of my songs hit number one, doing concerts, selling out the Staples Center, and still, of course dancing. Also, giving back to people that are not as fortunate as I was. Something that helps kids and makes them happy.

What are you listening to these days?

Rihanna, Kehlani, Beyonce, Destiny’s Child, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Etta James, Toni Braxton, and Mary J. Blige.

What is your go-to beauty product?

Dermalogica. It has saved my life. I used a product that irritated my skin and it looked like I got burned by a curling iron on my cheeks. It was the most horrific thing that has happened to me. So we went to Planet Beauty, we know everybody there. They knew exactly what I needed, ‘Dermalogica is extra calming’ they said. We got the whole set with everything and my skin was clear as day in about a week. I still use it now.

While having so many accolades at the young age of 10, Ray remains humble and hungry for more.
