The 92nd Academy Awards will be here in just a few short weeks and it was just announced that they will honor the late NBA legend, Kobe Bryant this year.

The Hollywood Reporter shared that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science is planning to pay tribute to the basketball legend during the ceremony this year.

In 2018, Bryant received his first Oscar for his autobiographical short film titled, Dear Basketball. He narrated, wrote, and executive produced this special project.

After the heartbreaking news of Kobe’s passing this past Sunday, the Academy paid tribute to the star on their official Instagram page.
