Back in March, we learned that Jennifer Hudson would portray the Queen of Soul in the upcoming biopic, Respect and now, more cast members for the film have been announced!

The Hollywood Reporter has shared that Mary J. Blige, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, and Audra McDonald have all joined the cast! The film will allow viewers to tune into Aretha Franklin’s journey to fame.

At this time, we know that Forest Whitaker will portray Aretha Franklin’s father while Marlon Wayans will play Ted White, Aretha’s first husband.

Mary J. Blige will star as songstress Dinah Washington and Audra McDonald will play Aretha’s mother.

Skye Dakota Turner, Saycon Sengbloh, Marc Maron, Tte Donavan, Tituss Burgess, and Hailey Kilgore have also been added to the cast.

The film will be directed by Liesl Tommy.
