One of the most anticipated films to be released in 2018 is the Black Panther film from the Marvel universe. This star-studded action film is sure to keep audiences on their toes. In the film, Chadwick Boseman plays T-Challa, the son of the leader of a mysterious African nation who returns to his home of Wakanda to serve as king after his father’s death. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and boast an impressive repertoire of black actors and actresses that is sure to make this the film to kick off 2018.

Chadwick Boseman is the Black Panther. As the Black Panther, also known as T’Challa, in mainstream American comics, is the first African American superhero. He is the chief of the Panther Tribe as well as a renowned hunter, scientist, inventor, politician and tracker. T’Challa is trained in African marital arts, acrobats and gymnastics. Boseman is an actor and producer from Anderson, SC. Some of his most acknowledged films are 42, Get on Up and Captain America: Civil War.

Danai Gurira is Okoye. As Okoye, she is the biggest enemy of Wakanda’s king. Danai has an MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and co-authored a play “In the Continuum”, her background is Zimbabwean. She is known for her roles in The Walking Dead, The Visitor, All Eyez on Me and Mother of George. 

Lupita Nyong’o is Nakia, Nakia is chosen from a rival tribe to help prevent a civil war by maintaining the balance of power, spending three years training, she is presented to Wakanda. Lupita’s breakout role was in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years of Slave, she was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya. Lupita is known for her roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Jungle Book, and Non-Stop.

Michael B Jordan is Erik Killmonger. As Erik, is a passionate and powerful warrior for the Kingdom of Wakanda, as well as a genius in politics and economics. Born and raised in Santa Ana, California, Jordan’s first breakthrough role was in the critically acclaimed HBO show The Wire in 2002. Jordan’s most well known roles in films are in Creed, Fruitvale Station, Chronicle, and Fantastic Four.

Daniel Kaluuya is W’Kabi. As W’Kabi, he is a warrior and the best friend of T’Challa. Daniel is an actor and writer, he was born in London, England. Daniel’s known for roles in Get Out, Sicario, Johnny English Reborn and Kick Ass 2.

Martin Freeman is Everett Ross. As Everett Ross, he is assigned to T’Challa, who escorts him around New York City. He is an English actor, known for his roles in The Hobbit film trilogy as Biblo.

Angela Bassett plays Ramonda, As Ramonda, she is the former Queen of Wakanda and stepmother to T’Challa. Bassett is a actress, producer, and director, she grew up in New York. She is known for roles in What’s Love Got to Do with It, Malcolm X, Boyz in the Hood and Strange Days.

Other names in the movie include Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Florence Kasumba, John Kani, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown, Letitia Wright, Phylicia Rashad and many more. The film will be released on February 16, 2018.
