Please introduce yourself to our reading audience.

Hello, I am Dr. Yolanda Jerry, a servant leader who understands the importance of encouraging others and giving of my time and talents to endeavors that uplift, inspire and support those who need it most. I am a passionate advocate for victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and bullying. I am a dedicated mother, friend and daughter. I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. I am also The Empowerment Advocate.

What made you want to go in to business?

I went into business because I wanted to help teach others that whatever obstacles they may have faced in the past, they have a divine purpose and that they are capable of greatness even in the face of domestic violence, sexual assault and bullying. I also wanted to show others that it’s important they not only stand as a survivor, but also be willing to support and stand up for others who are facing similar challenges and use their voice for greatness.

You’re not the only one doing what you do. Why should people work with you?

While there are others that may be following a similar calling, there is only one Empowerment Advocate and only one Dr. Yolanda Jerry. I am a firm believer that my unique gifts and my talents were given to me for a specific and special purpose. I also believe that if you desire real change and empowerment, you should work with someone who is passionate and authentic about helping others and that’s me.

What should people expect from you in the first quarter of 2020?

For the first quarter of 2020, I am continuing to encourage others to focus on the word elevate for 2020. It means to raise or lift something to a higher position. No matter where they stand now, their intentions for themselves and the actions that follow must be about their elevation to new heights and new opportunities. I am also spending more time volunteering with nonprofits, traveling, connecting with others and sharing my messages of empowerment. I am working on projects that I believe in passionately, including several faith-based initiatives. I am also working on another book project this year focused on supporting women and mental health.

What motto do you live by?

No matter what…just keep going.

What is your favorite quote?

“You’re set back is a set up for a major comeback.”
