On Oct.28, during an NFL Sunday halftime show, Missy Elliot caught her fans off guard when she teased a snippet of her new single WTF (Where They From), featuring Pharrell Williams with an official release date on Nov. 13.

It’s been nearly a decade since the musical genius released her sixth album, The Cookbook. Since then, fans have been salivating at the thought of Ms. Misdemeanor releasing new music, and luckily for them and the rest of us, the wait is over.

Though a single is a far-cry from a full album, we’re all keeping our fingers crossed that this is a prelude to a seventh album. Until then, here are three reasons why the game is in dire need of her return.

Her Unique Sound

Whether you can understand what she’s rapping or not, you’re sure to be too busy moving and shaking to her lyrical banter over a unique jungle beat.

Since her solo debut with ‘I Can’t Stand the Rain”, Elliot has been creating signature music with funky melodic tunes that are all her own, but leave us all feeling ‘supa dupa fly.’

Hip Hop Legend

With six platinum albums and 30 million records sold as a solo artist, Elliot is arguable one of Hip Hop’s greatest MC’s. Her influence transcends cultural barriers, making her a force to be reckoned with in a male-dominated industry.
