Singer, Anthony Rhyne also known as the ‘Memphis King of R&B’ was homeless with his mom from the ages of 10 to 15 years old. “We used to have to sleep from home to home and we really struggled to make ends meet,” he said. Rhyne explained that it was around the age of 15-years-old that he started working and hustling to help his mother with the workload and many of the responsibilities of everyday living. “Seeing my mom struggle and always being hungry really built my work ethic. I used to sell my CDs all day and night in any weather,” he said. When Rhyne was around 18-years-old he said things got better for him and his mother. He was able to save up $20,000 to pay for a down -payment on their first home. The upcoming singer thanks Jesus for blessing him with the amazing gift. He says that he doesn’t know where he would be in life without it. Rhyne recently released a new single “Vibing,” the song is the perfect blend of the ’90s and contemporary R&B. It gets men and women in the groove for any occasion, even children!

Check out the video for ‘Vibing’ and a little bit more about his music journey below:

When did you begin singing?

I began singing at the early age of 5-years-old in the church choir. Other than singing in the choir, I’ve never had any vocal coaching. I guess it’s just a gift from God but I’m willing to be coached to learn how to be a better singer though.

How does singing and writing lyrics make you feel?

To say the least, it makes me feel like I’m in my own world.

Who are some of your inspirations and your favorite artist?

I would have to say, my favorite artist is Tank and my biggest inspiration is my daughter. Tank is my favorite because he has a strong voice, he performs with confidence, and he demands the crowd’s attention.

What is the first song you remember singing in front of an audience?

The first song was my single called “Loving You.” I was so nervous while performing it, but thankfully the audience still loved it.

What do you believe is unique about you and your talent? what makes you stand out?

I would say that I‘ve been able to grow into a great performer, songwriter and that my work ethic is what sets me apart.

Why exactly does music mean so much to you?

Music means a lot to me because I really love seeing the reactions on people’s faces when I perform and sing to them. It’s priceless!

Why do you think the industry doesn’t promote positive music as much as secular or trap music?

I believe the reasoning is because of how people react to trap or secular music. People have a lot of pride and are scared to show their love for positivity because it makes them look weak and vulnerable.

What do you normally write about?

I love feel-good music, anything that makes you happy and want to dance, so I normally write about sex, love and just having a good time!

How do you feel about performing in front of crowds?

I love it. I transform into a whole different person.

Have you ever opened up for a celebrity?

Yes. I’ve opened for singers, Lyfe Jennings and Sammie.

What message would you like for people to get from your talent?

I’d love for them to not be afraid to love.

Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years?

I see myself as an iconic figure in the music industry and also in my community. I love to help people.

If you could collaborate with any artists who would they be?

Tank, Wale, Jeremih, Keith Sweat, Chris Brown, Usher, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Moneybagg Yo and Ari Lennox.

How do you prepare yourself before performing or even just writing a song?

Actually it’s no preparation. It’s just an energized feeling I get into out of nowhere.

If you had any advice for a young person who wants to share their talent but is scared of what people may think, what would it be?

I would just say to just always be yourself and don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Every professional was once an amateur.

Where can fans find your work?

My work can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, and just anywhere you can stream music in the world.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love to play basketball, read books, and cook.
