Actor, Winston Duke is best known for his role as M’Baku, T’Challa’s ally in the multi-billion dollar grossing, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War but now, it looks like Duke has left Wakanda and made his way into the cage as he will be taking on the role of MMA legend, Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson in the film, Backyard Legend.

It was reported last October that the film would be produced by Steve Lee Jones’ Bee Holder Productions and Michael

J. Weiss’ Webros Entertainment. The screenplay will be written by Andy Weiss and will tell the story of the backyard brawler who rose from homelessness to fame for his brutal fights.

In June 2016, Kimbo Slice passed away in June 2016 at just 42-years-old from heart failure and a liver mass.

In an interview, Steve Lee Jones said,

“It’s a rich and layered tale about this man’s incredible journey from a poor neighborhood in Miami to becoming a worldwide phenomenon. We are ecstatic that Winston has decided to take on this both physically and emotionally challenging role. We simply could not find a better Kimbo!”

Winston Duke then added,

“I’m looking forward to exploring Kimbo’s story and interrogating the expectations society places on men like him who are their own special breed of hero.”

Winston Duke is on a roll! He will also star in Jordan Peele’s upcoming film, Us which is set to premiere in 2019.
