Laurasia Andrea or Red Fairyy as many people know her is the Ultimate Hair Goddess. She’s perfected every single wig, hairdo, color and to be honest, we love every single creation! In this exclusive interview with SHEEN, Laurasia opens up what it’s like juggling everyday life while being an influencer and her must-have beauty product! You don’t want to miss this!

Can you tell our readers about yourself and what inspired you to create your YouTube channel?

Well, I’m Laurasia Andrea and I’ve always been the one with crazy colored hair. I always had red hair so that is really where Red Fairyy came from. I always changed my hair every other week, literally like no joke (laughs). I also did gymnastics for about 14 years and my friends always said that I spun like a fairy so that was where fairy came from in the name. My friends eventually pushed me to start a YouTube channel and this was when YouTube wasn’t what it is now.

I decided to randomly make a video; I wasn’t even good at makeup. I was still learning how to do my hair; I didn’t even know how to do wigs. Really, my whole journey on YouTube has been a learning experience. I started out with short hair, I only did my natural hair, I didn’t know how to color hair, none of that. Since I’ve been on YouTube, I’ve just been learning as I grow. I’m teaching people but I’m also teaching myself at the same time. I just love inspiring people, I love that people look at me for inspiration, and look to me as their go-to. That’s so crazy yet exciting to me. I like to say my experience on YouTube is a Cinderella Story.

In what ways would you say has being an influencer changed your life?

One being, I get spotted in public all the time (laughs) it’s like I’m some type of celebrity and I’m not at all (laughs) I feel like I’m the same as everyone else so the fact that people get so excited when they see me or my boyfriend (who I have my in my videos as well) and they get so excited, it’s crazy to me. I love the fact that I’m able to be that voice for women of color, dark skin, brown skin, whatever the case may be. It doesn’t matter what your skin tone is or how much melanin you have in your skin, the fact that my subscribers look to me as their voice for African American women to be able to wear wigs and colorful ones at that and not be stereotyped in 2018.

You showcase so many different hairstyles on your channel, what is your favorite look by far?

Ah! You’re killing me! I don’t know if I can pick one! (laughs) Um… Can I pick two? I would have to say the rainbow undercut where I did the silver bob and I had the rainbow underneath and hidden. And also, the one I did recently, my pink ombre. I don’t know what it was about the pink ombre but people like it and it took me so long to do pink hair only because it’s hard to find the right tone of pink for my brown skin.

How do you juggle your everyday life while being consistent with your channel providing hair, beauty, and lifestyle videos for your subscribers?

It is so overwhelming. I swear I need an assistant or someone! (laughs) I was literally just talking to my boyfriend about this. It can be overwhelming because you’re doing everything on your own. You’re an entrepreneur so you don’t have a boss to tell you what to do or how to do it. You’re your own boss. Being that you have so much ability to be open and creative, it can be difficult because you have so many ideas. That is a flaw in being an influencer because your mind is always going. I kind of struggle with that but I do not take any of this for granted, I’m so grateful for it. It does have it’s good and bad, but that’s life, that’s with anything.

Sheen Magazine is the Ultimate Beauty Guide for the Modern Day Woman; can you tell us about your must-have product?

My must-have product would be the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil. I worked on my skin for so long that I have no problem going out without product on my skin but I feel like my brows need to be on point. They have to be for me to leave the house. I don’t even wear makeup like that, when I’m not filming I literally wear zero makeup. If I wear makeup, it’s usually just my eyebrows and a little mascara.
