We love a good beauty hack, mostly because it means we’re repurposing a product we already own to improve the state of our hair, skin, makeup look, etc. Some of our favorite hacks? Dipping just-painted nails in cold water to make them dry faster and dabbing concealer under our noses to brighten our entire complexion in a flash, to name a few. So while we’ve picked up many of these tricks from makeup artists, Pinterest—even fellow beauty editors—we’re especially tickled when we learn a new tip from Hollywood’s finest.
From Beyoncé’s genius lash-curling trick to Jessica Alba’s unexpected pimple-hiding hack, we’ve compiled our favorite time-saving and, not to mention, money-saving tips—each hack-producing product can be found at your local drugstore. Keep scrolling to learn more!
JESSICA ALBA
Nyx’s Proof It Eyeshadow Primer ($7)
Jessica Alba’s makeup artist employs the most simple and effective pimple-concealing trick: eye shadow primer. Martin tells us that he uses Nyx’s Proof It Eyeshadow Primer, essentially as spackle on top of a nasty breakout. It creates a smooth surface to apply makeup on top of, and sticks to the skin “like glue.”
KEKE PALMER
Steal Keke Palmer’s genius lip-plumping hack: After applying lip liner and lipstick, she dabs on a matching shade of Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream on the center of her pout for dimension.
ZENDAYA
There’s no denying that Zendaya’s highlight is on point, and as it turns out, the actress has a sneaky drugstore hack to make it pop: “I dab Aquaphor ($5) where I want my highlight to be,” she explains. “Then I put my highlighter on top and boom!”
BEYONCÉ
Leave it to Bey to find a genius way to make her lashes stand out sans mascara. She use Rosebud Salve, $6 to prime my lashes before curling, “It was like a natural mascara. It made the lashes hold the curl and look shiny.”
