En·er·gy

/ˈenərjē/

The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.

The importance of protecting your energy is on the same level as staying physically healthy. We must understand that our energy plays an imperative role on our outlook on life. It provides us with the ability to improve and it motivates us to cut out anything that involves unnecessary drama.

In order to protect your energy, there has to be steps that are in place so you can follow them whenever you feel like negative energy has found its way into your life. You can create your own ways, but here are four ways to protect your energy if you need a start.

These are a few of the steps I follow to protect my energy.

  1. Avoid or ignore all unnecessary conflict.

Conflict is one of the easiest ways to throw off your energy. I’m sure there are people who think they can never get away from conflict; however, it’s all about how you respond. We’ve all heard the phrase, “Not everything deserves a reaction”, and it is wise words we need to follow. Just because conflict has found its way to you, does not mean you have to get involved. You can either avoid it to begin with or ignore its attempt to bring toxicity into your life.

  1. Stay positive.

A lot of people find it hard to stay positive in a world where negativity is dominant, but it’s easier than we think. In order to become positive or stay positive, you have to believe in yourself and always look on the bright side. Once you can master this, staying positive will be a piece of cake.

  1. Find an artistic passion.

This is one of my favorite steps in protecting my energy. Art is one of the main forms of expression. Find an artistic passion and put your all into it. I love to write and I use it to express feelings that I’m not good with actually talking about. It takes a load off of my shoulders and enables me to remain calm. If writing is not your cup of tea, there are many forms of art that you can choose from. You can create music, paintings, drawings and even cook just to name a few. Art is like an energy reliever. It brings a breathe of fresh air into a world of stress and pain.

4.Breathe.

Finally, just take the time out of your day, at least 6 times, to breathe. We fill our lives with so much work that we forget to sit and take a breathe of fresh air. I recently started doing this because of my apple watch. If you have a watch, it’ll send a reminder to you everyday to take a moment to breathe. You have to sit down and stay still as the watch leads you through the ‘session’. Its goal is to clear your mind and relax your body from stress that builds up throughout the day.

I hope these four steps help everyone as much as they help me. My life has definitely locked out a lot of negative energy as I focused to protect mine.
