From the south all the way to the big city lights of Los Angeles, Lunden De’Leon let us know that it was never in her plan to become an actress, in fact, it was like God put it in her lap. We sat down with the multi-talented star as she shares the details on her journey to success and what the entertainment industry has taught her. Don’t miss our exclusive interview, below!

Tell us about yourself, how did you get into the world of entertainment?

Well, I was raised in South Carolina. After high school, I went out to California. I hitchhiked my way to LA! While I was out there, I was dirt poor. I found a roommate who was an actress and model and she asked if I wanted to come with her to an audition. I figured I had no money, I had nothing to lose so I should just tag along with her and see what happens.

I auditioned, I got the role and her agent signed me! I went on to book the television series, Battle Signs and many great projects. It all kind of started accidentally because I was broke! I fell into something I really enjoy and I love it.

Tell us about your new role in the film, Pure Justice.

In Pure Justice, I play an attorney named Tracy. She’s a great person, she loves family, she loves the community, and in the film, someone is trying to set her up. Its full of turns, twists, and surprises. She is a high power attorney that must deal with someone trying to ruin her career.

What challenges have you faced in order to get to where you are now?

Of course! Being in Los Angeles, there were directors, producers, even some agents who offered an opportunity in exchange for sex. I found out early on that I had to stay true to myself. I would never sleep with someone just for a movie role! One of the challenges in the industry is that there are often men in high power positions. Its been happening for years, now everyone is talking about it. That was a big challenge.

What advice would you offer to aspiring actors?

I would say stay true to yourself! If you’re in it, do it for the right reasons. Do you want to be an actor to become famous? If so, forget it. Not everyone becomes Halle Berry or Denzel Washington but if you do it because you’re passionate about your craft, then take some theater classes, scene study classes, get out there find an agent, and hustle! You will work even when you become famous! Not many people get on that level but you can become a working actor. Use your stumbling blocks as stepping stones, get out and pursue!

Do you believe becoming an actress has taught you anything about yourself that you didn’t know beforehand?

I’ve learned to trust myself. In the beginning, I would go audition, may or may not get a callback but after I leave that audition, I question every little thing. Now, I just go do it, trust myself, and I know that what is meant for me, I will get. What God has for me, no one can take it away. I’ve learned to just trust, go in and do my best, and leave the rest to God.
