On Friday, August 31st the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin will be laid to rest.
The late singer’s publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn shared with Associated Press that Franklin’s funeral will take place in her hometown, Detroit, Michigan.
The funeral will be held after a two-day public viewing. Fans of the star can pay their respects at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History from August 28th-29th from 9AM to 9PM. The services that will be held for Aretha’s closest family and friends will be held two days later at the Greater Grace Temple.
Aretha Franklin will be laid to rest among her siblings and father Rev. C. Franklin at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
The 18-time Grammy award-winning artist passed away this past Thursday after her long battle with pancreatic cancer.
If you are unable to attend Aretha Franklin’s public viewing, you will have another chance to remember the music icon when a tribute concert will be held at Madison Square Garden on November 14th.
