Ava DuVernay’s series, Central Park Five has just locked down Michael K. Williams as part of the cast!

The first round of stars to appear in the project was announced and in addition, John Leguizamo and Vera Farmiga will join Williams.

Central Park Five will be a four-part series on Netflix and is set to premiere in 2019.

It will focus on the real-life story of five teenagers from Brooklyn: Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise who were convicted of a rape that they did not commit.

Michael K. Williams is best known for his role in the highly favorited HBO series, “The Wire.” He will portray Bobby McCray, the father of accused Antron McCray. Actor John Leguizamo will portray Raymond Santana Sr., the father of Raymond Santana Jr. and Vera Farmiga will portray Elizabeth Lederer, the Manhattan Assistant District Attorney and lead prosecutor of the case.

The series will begin in 1989 when the young teenagers were questioned about the incident all the way until 2014 when they were exonerated and a settlement was finally reached in New York.
