Tell us about yourself. What made you want to get into the world of YouTube?
Well, my name is Alanna Foxx and I am a beauty and lifestyle influencer. I really love everything about the beauty and fashion world, and just life in general. I love cooking and I am also a mom. I’m really a girly girl, a princess at heart, a grown-up princess I guess you could say (laughs). I’ve always been pretty extra when it came to my hair, makeup, and fashion. I’ve always stood out and done things that weren’t the “safe” way, because of that I used to get a lot of questions about how I do my hair or makeup. I thought it would be great if I had one place to give that information to people. Being that I had a background in media and the fact that I loved being in front of a camera, I filmed a video of myself and that’s where it all started!
What is your favorite thing about being a beauty and lifestyle influencer?
I would have to say my favorite thing is just being able to impact other women through this space. My motto has always been “When you look good, you feel good.” I think that the outside has to match the inside and there are women out there who may not know how to do that on their own. Outside of YouTube, I provide beauty services with hair and makeup and being able to see the smile on someone’s face when they take in my advice or when someone inboxes me and thanks me, it means so much to me and is the biggest reward ever.
Do you think since becoming an influencer you have learned anything about yourself you did not know before?
Being an influencer has taught me to be more confident in myself. I always thought that I was pretty confident when I was younger. I walked with my head held high, I marched to my own beat but being on the Internet and opening up to the world where they may judge you teaches you that you can’t care about the opinions of others. You have to know who you are, be secure in that, and own it!
How are you able to juggle everyday life, taking classes, and putting out content for your subscribers?
So… I don’t (laughs). It’s so hard to juggle it a, l to be honest. I am a woman of many hats. I have my own business, I am a cosmetology student, I’m a mom, I still run a whole household, and my channel is my baby! I would have to say it all comes down to time management, organization, and being disciplined enough to make sure that you execute the things you write down. I’m a big planner, I write down everything down! If you don’t have that discipline, everything is chaotic.
Sheen Magazine is the Ultimate Beauty Guide for the Modern Day Woman; do you mind sharing your favorite beauty products?
I love Fenty Beauty, of course. I’m a big fan of Rihanna. Her products are great! I love her foundation, concealer, and highlighters. I also like Glamazon Beauty Cosmetics by Kim Baker. She has awesome primers, concealer, and foundation. They also have a wide range of products from the palest of the pale to the darkest of the dark! They cover everyone. Cache Appeal is a small lipstick company that has great quality lipstick. They last all day! They offer the best lipsticks that I’ve ever tried and they are affordable. I also love Anastasia Beverly Hills’ liquid lipsticks.
I have my own hair care line called, NIORE and I have growth oil that I’ve been using on myself and my daughter to grow our hair out. It is infused with a bunch of different herbs botanical vitamins that work well, it is available online.
Where do you hope to see yourself in the years to come?
Keeping with the theme that I really love to help women build more confidence in themselves, right now I am working on a couple of things. One of them being a beauty lounge and wellness center where women can come in and get affordable luxury-themed services and also grow through different programs. We will reach out to women and also young girls. As a role model to my younger audience, I want to help them realize that anything is possible! When a woman is confident, she can really achieve anything!
What has being a mother taught you?
My daughter is a big part in everything that I do. Even before I had her, I dreamed of having this little girl who was a super girly girl. She is a big inspiration in all the projects that I have. She is my motivation to getting things done and building my own to make sure that I am a whole, complete woman so that I can be exactly what she needs growing up.
