President of Chicago-based Investment firm, Ariel Investments is moving into a brand NEW role!
Hobson will serve as Starbucks’ Vice Chair when Executive Chairman, Howard Schultz departs from the company on June 26th.
The Chicago native was once an intern for Ariel Investments back in the 90s. Hobson then became the company’s Vice President of marketing, Senior Vice President, and later became the President at the firm.
Mellody has been a member of Starbucks’ board of directors since 2005. If you didn’t know, she has also served on the boards of popular brands such as DreamWorks, Groupon, and Estée Lauder.
Currently, Mellody is on the board of directors of The Economic Club of Chicago and Chair of After School Matters which is a nonprofit that provides teenagers with out-of-school time programs.
Former CEO of J.C. Penny, Myron E. Ulman will take over as Starbucks’ Chair.
