Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending “A Conversation with Tisha Campbell-Martin” as a part of the Black Women in Film Summit held at Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, Georgia. Moderated by actress Charmin Lee, Tisha was very transparent and honest with guests about her journey in TV and Film. She talked about the career span for most actors, which in actuality is only 5 years long and how she managed to stay in the game for a strong 20 years. She also touched on the topics of balancing her health issues, marriage, family, and business relationships.
Although a well-known actress, most people became familiar with Tisha’s singing, as she would sing on many episodes of the hit show Martin, but now she is pursuing a career in music. She has just released her latest single “Lazy Bitch (This Ain’t Gina),” in which she also discussed with the audience, elaborating the song is referencing dealing with multiple and challenging workplace issues by being a lady throughout.
Tisha spent the entire weekend promoting her new single as well as interacting with her fans. This 47-year-old established actress/singer doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Stay tuned to see what’s next on her journey. http://www.blackwomenfilmsummit.org.
