Debra Lee has stepped down as the CEO of BET Networks. Lee stepped down as chairman and chief executive, effective on Monday, May 28th. It has also been said that since she has taken over the network, it hasn’t been the same.
Within Lee’s time at BET, there have been hit shows such as The Game, Being Mary Jane, In Contempt, and The Real Husbands of Hollywood.
The real question is “Why is she stepping down?” You see Lee’s present at every BET Award show sitting in the front row as always.
After her 32 years of reshaping the network and being a hardworking trooper, she will always be a shining face of the network. She has been the face of BET for three decades and has maintained the reputation of having BET in the number one ranking with overall black viewers for 17 years. She will continue working on other projects such as nonprofit boards along with the Time’s Up movement and the Recording Academy Diversity and Inclusion Task force according to BET.
