The Circle of Sisters Expo kicked off at the Jacob Javitz Center this past Saturday for a day of sisterhood, inspiration and comradery! Thousands gathered under one roof, for a fun filled day of faith and inspiration.

The day kicked off on the main stage with 4X NBA Champion, John Salley! The health advocate talked about healthy eating and problems with processed foods. The Chew’s Carla Hall was also on site doing a demo presentation of healthy foods to eat, that taste just as good our guilty pleasures. American Ballet principal dancer Misty Copland, also graced the stage for an intimate conversation on healthy living, career and her historic success!

While various healthy living panels were taking place, Circle of Sisters also highlighted issues such as love in the black community. Gospel veteran JJ Harrison and wife Trina, sat alongside Hip Hop power couple Papoose and Remy Ma for a lengthy discussion. The diverse panel highlighted issues such as communication, staying in love and being in love! Another breakout panel also included Evelyn Lozada, Rotimi, Vivica Fox and Stephen Bishop. The panel spoke about balancing work, love and being African American’s in Hollywood!

While various breakout panel’s continued throughout the day, the main stage was flooded as major stars graced the MetroPlus Performance stage! NAACP Award Winner Demetria McKinney, wowed the crowd with incredible vocals which included her Top 5 Billboard single, “Easy.” British singer Estelle rocked the stage taking us back with some of her hits as well as some of her new reggae fused music! Singer Tank, stayed true to his R&B roots, as he sang new songs off his brand new album “Savage.” New mother, Melanie Fiona, who is returning to music after a hiatus graced the stage with songs from her previous and upcoming projects.  Singer/ Songwriter Sevyn Streeter, closed the stage with her notable dance moves and charting songs that had the whole crowd moving!

Among other notable highlights of the day included an appearance and award presentation to the legendary Cicely Tyson. Tina and Erica Campbell, also known as Mary Mary performed new music from their solo albums at the evening Gospel Explosion which had the audience on their feet! Special performers also included Ricky Dillard, Kierra Sheard and Jekalyn Carr!
