Last Thursday in Beverly Hills, California at the Soho House, a private screening was held for the new film, True To The Game, a love story with a gangsta twist. The film stars Columbus Short, Vivica A. Fox, Andra Fuller, Draya Michele and the late Nelson Ellis. This serves as Ellis’ last role before his untimely death last month due to heart failure and complications associated with alcohol withdraw syndrome.

The story hails from the popular 2007 novel by Teri Woods. The plot is one that is all to familiar as it pertains to the drug game. Quadir Richards played by Columbus Short seeks to make his exit and leave the game for good when he meets Gena Rollins. However, the streets have other plans for him. Nonetheless, both lovers learn the hard way that a life of crime does not come without a cost. If they are going to ever see their “happily ever after”, Quadir must figure out how to beat the game.

True To The Game was directed by Preston Whitmore (This Christmas) and produced by known music manager, Manny Halley. The film is set to release on September 8.
