I really like my best friend and I’ve given all the signs of my feelings but yet still nothing. How can I advance our relationship?
Signs only work for those who know how to read them. They may not speak sign language. In 2018, you have to be straight up! Emojis and subliminals ain’t gone get it! Communication is the key. Don’t be afraid. Heart break is better than regret. If it’s your best friend then say, “Look I know we’re best friends and all, but I have to be honest with you. I’m starting to have feelings for you. I want to know how you feel about me.” If you get some buddy, buddy cool shit response then, just swallow your pride and moonwalk on back to being best friends. A closed mouth doesn’t get fed. Call them today! Don’t be all mushy and “Notebook” with it. Just speak how you feel. Either way you win! Don’t overthink it.
I am single and dating but one of my dates asked me to split the bill with him. I was kind of upset but I paid. Is it bad to expect the guy to pay on our dates?
Thank you for your question. If a woman is dating, she should never pay on a first date or any date rather. Now, when you’re in a serious relationship, that’s a different story. But dating? That’s a definite no, no. That’s a red flag. You are setting yourself up for failure if you go Dutch. You may see it as independence, but a guy looks at it like you don’t value paying for your date does not mean he’s expecting sex, it means he values your time. You have to be very clear about what you are doing. Are you dating to find a companion or are you dating to not feel lonely? If you are dating to not feel lonely, a man can tell. And that’s when the dogs start coming out. If you want full respect, make them pay the full check. Otherwise, you will come off half desperate. If a man can stand in line for three hours for a new pair of J’s , than why can’t he pick up the check? Aren’t you worth more than a pair of Jordan’s?
You can submit your questions TODAY by sending them to email@example.com.
Be sure to head back to Sheen Magazine every Friday to see Medina’s answers.
