What are some exercise tips for women who want to lose weight for spring?
Eating the right diet is more than 50% of the battle and avoid eating later in the evening. A rule of thumb is after 6pm is usually too late. Make sure you’re getting the proper amount of rest on your fitness journey. Most people need at least 8-10 hours of sleep a night.
Cardio. Cardio. Cardio. Try different ways if you’re the type that hates treadmills. Try the park, run around the neighborhood, boxing type workouts also are really good. My favorite is Zumba.
How long have you been in the industry and what prompted you to start a gym?
I’ve spent pretty much my whole life being active. I was an athlete, playing football all the way to the NFL. So I have been working out and staying fit for a while now. I wanted to open a gym in Youngstown because I have a passion for the youth in our city and I wanted to give them something to believe in.
Do you train women? And if so, what are some patterns you’ve seen?
Yes, I do train women. A lot of times women [see] weights and get scared, simply because they don’t want to “get too bulky,” but that’s not the experience you will get at 3 thirty elite. We offer classes like Yoga, Zumba, Pilates and Hip-Hop cardio. Our personal trainers cater to the client and focus on what they need and we try our best to help them on their journey.
What are some common mistakes women make when going to the gym?
The best advice I can give is just be you and if you need help, don’t be afraid to ask because we are here to help you.
Sometimes, for beginners it’s an overwhelming process when first going to work out. What are some things women can begin with?
I try to stay away from weights initially with my female clients and kind of ease them into the swing of things.
