VIPsocio is a black owned events marketplace founded by Innocent Wamey created to give you instant access to events happening around your city. The platform features corporate networking events, music concerts, and even provides you with VIP tickets and bottle services to the most exclusive nightclubs, lounges, and party venues near you. I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner to learn more about the platform and what makes it different from its competitors.
What sets your company apart from other event hosting platforms?
VIPsocio is an accelerator for Afro Culture. Our focus is on creating a macro economic system for the black consumer, community organizers, entrepreneurs, event producers and creatives. We manage events, operate a merchandize marketplace, and provide ticketing solutions for events on our web portal and on the Android and IOS APPs. These solutions allow us to have complete user profiles with the ability to create and dictate trends in the marketplace.
What inspired you to start this business? Did you see a lack in the promotions of black events on other platforms?
Afro Culture drives music, fashion, dance, consumer tastes and is trendsetting in the US. Afro brands like Motown, BET, FUBU and the likes have demonstrated one glaring opportunity in the marketplace which until now has created a few billionaires but never created a macro economic system for the black consumer and small entrepreneurs. As an Engineer and one who has been involved in the events space for over 6 years I feel I can make an impact creating an online environment that solves this problem.
What are the fees if any associated with selling tickets for events on your website?
It is completely free for the event organizer. For the buyer of a ticket, we do charge a nominal convenience fee which we deliberately kept much lower than the fees charged by competitors like Eventbrite and Ticketmaster. On the Marketplace, it is free for any vendor to own a store front with limited inventory. We charge a 2% transaction commission only when a product is purchased through VIPsocio Marketplace.
Tell me a little about yourself and how you became involved in this market?
I have always had great admiration for simple solutions that meet customers at the pain points. I am passionate about creating revolutionary platforms that provide simple solutions to complex business problems with a focus on creating thriving ecosystems that simplify matchmaking between clients and service providers through the use of technology.
What other upcoming projects do you have?
I am solely focused on VIPsocio in the near future. I am very passionate about Afro Culture and I have started down the road of filling a void in the industry. My focus and the company focus is to raise brand awareness and get as many people involved as possible in a short time period.
