It’s no surprise, BET’s hit show, The Grand Hustle is a hit sensation but it seems as if one member of the reality show has quickly caught the attention of the ladies! Beyond his seductive looks, Yonathan Elias opens up to us and lets us know why the entertainment industry is right for him and what you can expect to see in the future!
Tell us about yourself, when did you know that you wanted to be in the world of entertainment?
My name is Yonathan Elias and I am a first generational in the United States. My mother is from Eritrea and my father is Nigerian. I was brought up in a very cultural background. I was born in Inglewood and raised in Long Beach, so my mother and father stressed the fact that education was key and there’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it. When I told my parents I wanted to be in the entertainment world at the age of 14, they turned it down without hesitation because they knew nothing about the industry. Doctor, Lawyer, engineer was all they saw; so I had to take measures into my own hands. I bought a car at the age of 16 with the money I made at my part-time job, and drove myself to auditions until I landed Soul Train where I was one of the youngest main dancers for the program and the rest is history!
Can you tell us about your role on BET’s The Grand Hustle?
My role on BET’s Grand Hustle so far is the International TV Host who makes things happen, regardless of the negative people around him (one in particular). I have been deemed the one with the most drama in the house, but that’s just because I don’t back down that easy. If someone wants to test me, trust me, I will make sure they fail! But other than the drama I, unfortunately, find myself within the house, I’m the fun loving guy that just wants to win challenges and celebrate with my fellow cast mates.
How would you describe your overall experience on the show?
My overall experience on the show was nothing short than amazing. T.I. gave us an opportunity that no one has ever even thought of giving us. He brought people like me, people like you, people from all walks of life to prove to the world that it doesn’t matter what your background is, where you come from because we all have something in common, The Hustle! I have gained a new family within my cast mates and learned so much in the world of entertainment. I have this show to thank for that.
Are there any projects you are working on that you can tell us about?
I have been in the entertainment industry for over 15 years now, so I wanted to make sure that people understand that I am not just a reality TV star. I have a TV series called “Bruk’s Brothers” that I wrote and created. I will be shooting the pilot with a team I built very soon to pitch it to several networks. I also will be acting in future projects so make sure you keep your eye out for me!
What can we expect to see from Yonathan Elias in the future?
I consider myself a multi-media mogul in the making! You will see me hosting a top show on television, opening up restaurants, releasing a clothing and boot line, creating/producing content for television and the big screens and so much more. You can call me the black Ryan Seacrest!
