Grease is a classic film that has crossed over so many generations and now we get to see it live on television! With a revamped cast and a modern spin, we can’t wait to see what the show will bring. We had the opportunity to speak with Jordan Fisher who will be playing one of the T-birds “Doody.” See what he has to say below.

  1. How did you get started in the industry?

I was about 10 years old, and there was a girl in 5th grade that I had a crush on. She joined the drama club, so I joined and fell in love with art, acting, dancing and all those things. Up to that point, all I really had known was gymnastics. I spent a few months doing “School House Rock,” which completely changed my perspective on life.

  1. Which one do you love more, acting or music?

I love both equally. Any day of the week, I’m either going to be on set or in the studio. I can’t say that I would ever trade one for the other; I’m so equally invested in both.

  1. When can we hear some of your music?

We’re looking at spring 2016. We’re really excited about it, the album is coming together really well and I’m excited about everything that is concerned there.

  1. How did you get involved in Grease Live?

It started earlier last year. I sang at a friends wedding and one of the Paramount executives, who is a friend of theirs, heard me sing. She basically said that she wanted me to be a part of the project and she was looking at me for the role of “Doody.” I sang a song in the show called “Those Magic Changes” a couple of times, and few months later the director called me. He wanted to meet and lo and behold I am literally at rehearsal right now. It has been a blast; everyone is so great.

  1. What is your character “Doody” about?

He is one of the T-birds; he’s singing the song, “Those Magic Changes.”

  1. Is this your first live performance?

Far from. Theatre was my first love actually! I grew up working for a theatre company in Birmingham, AL (where I grew up) called Red Mountain Theatre Company, but even before that, I started doing school/church plays, community theatre, etc.

  1. What can we expect to see from Grease Live?

You can expect to see your favorite movie for the first time ever. We’re re-creating a classic memory for so many, but in a way that no one has ever seen before!

  1. When is it set to release?

Jan. 31st 7/6c on Fox!
