The illustrious organization Sigma Gamma Rho celebrated 95 years of service on November 12th celebrating the 95th year of the sorority being founded on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sigma Gamma Rho is the only African American sorority founded on a predominately white college campus and in one of the most dangerous states for African-Americans especially during that era.This phenomenal sorority has made a major impact within the community and globally worldwide with campaigns such as “Swim 1922” where the sorority educates and teaches the youth how to swim. Swimming which is known in the African American society to be something that isn’t taught or even acknowledged often but still important to learn. Let’s celebrate the historic sorority by highlighting the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
